I bought this for my grandson’s graduation, he picked it out, and I hoped he would like it, he loves it, his computer fits in it with other things that he needs for college and he says it is so nice to just carry it on your back or over his shoulder, I’m very pleased with the back pack and so is Mitch

I needed a backpack to hold a 17″ laptop, and chose this one.
It is the most attractive, biggest, most comfortable, most durable backpack I’ve ever owned (though I’ve always bought cheapies in the past). The drink holders are somewhat insulative and it stands on its own with most reasonable loads. It is very comfortable to wear with heavy and light loads. I’ve never cared what my backpack looked like, but this one will increase your attractiveness at least marginally when worn.
The compartment that houses the laptop will not hold much else when a 17″ is inserted. I can fit 1-2 textbooks in with the laptop, depending on size. The 2nd large compartment has tons of room for books and notes, though. Additionally, the second “front” pocket is large enough to fit 5-6 composition pads at least.
There is not a great spot to put a TI graphing calculator. If your like me, thats a bit of a negative, but I don’t think you will regret getting this pack!!!
The Swiss Gear Ibex is a great bag. It holds a lot of stuff and is still able to maintain a compact profile. I do a lot of traveling and purchased the Swiss Gear Synergy several months ago, it met all of my needs and I thought it was a great bag except that I had a hard time fitting it into the tight over head bin space on smaller commuter planes. After eventually ripping a grommet off of the front of my Synergy trying to force it into a bin I returned it and got the Ibex even though I have a smaller 15inch laptop. The Ibex has all of the features that the Synergy had with the exception of having shallower side zip pockets. It would be the perfect bag for me if it had the deeper pockets. But what the Ibex does have that drove me crazy on the Synergy is that it has dual zippers for it’s compartments that was a big plus for me. The material for the bottom of the Ibex is also thinner and more flexible which I find helpful in trying to fit it into cramped spaces.
