Eurotrip (Unrated Widescreen Edition) Green Fairy – D. Isenor – Indianapolis, IN
This is easy to sum up in only a few words. It is completely hilarious. Raunchy humor at it’s best. If you are a right wing nutjob who pretends to be a christian every Sunday, this is not your movie. This is along the lines of Beerfest and American Pie as far as humor. We watch it often just to get a chuckle.
They still need a blu-ray version.
Arrived as advertised – acjayhawk –
Everything was packaged and delivered as it was described. The condition of the product was just as the seller described.
DreamWorks: A group of American college buddies go on a road trip in Europe. Eurotrip views the Old World as a goofy parade of soccer hooligans, horny camera saleswomen, and pawing lechers reeking of cologne. After being dumped by his girlfriend, Scotty (Scott Mechlowicz) discovers that the German e-mail correspondent he thought was a guy is actually a hot girl–so naturally he jets off to Europe to find her, joined by his friends Cooper (Jacob Pitts), Jamie (Travis Wester), and Jenny (Michelle Trachtenburg, trying to leap into sexier roles after her adolescent characters in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Harriet the Spy). Just as naturally, a cavalcade of national stereotypes, wacky mishaps, and mild homophobia follows, but it’s all tossed off with reasonable good cheer (and the fight with the robot mime is pretty funny). Featuring cameos by Matt Damon (The Bourne Identity), Jeffrey Tambor (Arrested Development), Kristin Kreuk (Smallville), Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess), and Vinnie Jones (Snatch). –Bret Fetzer

Here are 12 ideas to get your creative juices flowing and increase your skills and value as a photographer.
TIP 1 – Time Lapse photos. I showed my niece how to do this with clay figures and stitch the resulting frames together into a video file, and she was busy for days. If you control the exposure consistently to keep the images consistent with one another, you can do some really fun stop-motion animation. Or, you can set up your camera to capture other slow motion effects such as flowers opening and seedlings growing.
TIP 2 – Night Lights. Things look very different at night. Shooting city scenes with available light creates some interesting images. And shooting outdoor images under moonlight or with “light painting”, where you open up the camera shutter for an extended exposure, and “paint” your targets with colored or plain light, can create some truly bizarre images.
TIP 3 – Astrophotography. Hook that SLR up to a telescope, and you are ready to peer into the depths of space and time. You’ll need some adapters, and ability to compensate for the earth’s rotation for really long shots. Start with the moon and move on from there.
TIP 4 – Macro photography. From flowers to coins to stamps, you can polish your skills at close-up photography and capture some really detailed images. Often a macro lens or close-up attachment will help. See my tips on Flower Photography to get more information.
TIP 5 – Micro photography. If you can interface that camera with a microscope, you can get some really crazy images. Or, stack up a bunch of close-up magnification and try your hand at turning salt crystals into surreal imagery.
TIP 6 – Insurance Photos. OK, maybe a bit boring, but you and your friends and relatives will thank you. Take a couple hours and touch and photograph everything of value, with a full shot or two if each item of value, accompanied by a shot of the identifying marks – manufacturer model or serial number. Then burn a CD or DVD and store it off site. If you have a fire or other loss, this could save the owner thousands of dollars.
TIP 7 – Family Recipe book. Anytime those family favorites are prepared, copy down the recipe and take some photos of the food. You can produce a printed or electronic cookbook of family favorites that everyone will love.
TIP 8 – Stock Photography. This is a very busy market niche, but the cost of entry is low. Specialize in things you love, and you may be able to generate some income from your stock images. Search for stock photography sites, and make sure you understand your rights before you post images.
TIP 9 – Special Effects. Maybe you want to specialize in high-speed images of athletes, or surrealistic collages. Try your hand at using your editing skills to put someone in a soda bottle or floating on a candy lifesaver. Often more artistic than photographic, it will test your composition, lighting and editing skills to come up with believable artificial realities.
TIP 10 – Still Life. Ahh, the bowl of fruit. Sometimes a simple object or collection, properly lit, shot and edited, is a thing of beauty. It’s a great way to study light. Start with an egg on a light background, a lamp and a window and see how you can learn about lighting and composition.
TIP 11 – Computer Control. Many cameras have a USB interface and remote control software. You can actually control the camera from the computer. See if you can get it to work to your liking, and maybe even program some time lapse or exposure bracketing experiments.
TIP 12 – Be Like Andy. Take some images of everyday items and try to create those neat colored backgrounds like Andy Warhol used to make. Create a 4-up print of the same image and change the colors of each quadrant to make an interesting square print.
Have fun with these ideas, and let me know when you become famous!

It is the kingdom of God that lies at the heart of the teaching, life and action of Jesus and it is the kingdom that pervades his parables, miracles and passion.
Sadly it would be true to say the church has lost this message. Most Christians think the Kingdom of God is something which will happen one day. We have reduced the Kingdom to a personal experience now and a collective experience in the future. E Stanley Jones put it well when he said. “If Jesus made the kingdom of God the centre of his message and the centre of his endeavour, the greatest need of man, as I see it, is to rediscover the kingdom of God.”
So to help us in the process let’s put forward 8 statements that encapsulate some key aspects of the Kingdom.
1. Kingdom is the sovereign rule of God
When Jesus introduced the Kingdom to his disciples he spoke about the rule of God that exists in heaven. He went on to say that this rule is now to be expressed in the earth.
“Our father who is in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” In other words Christianity is about heaven invading earth not about us escaping here to go to heaven. ‘All the major events that followed Jesus’ inauguration of the Kingdom – the resurrection and ascension of Jesus and the gift of the Spirit are “not designed to take us away from this earth, but to make us agents of the transformation of this earth” (Wright)
What are the implications for us of God’s sovereignty? Jesus said after the resurrection “All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me” (Matt 28:18). This means every part of creation is subject to Christ. Abraham Kuyper put it well when he said “”There is not one square inch of the entire creation about which Jesus Christ does not cry out, ‘This is mine! This belongs to me!’” This means all of life is sacred. To divide the world into sacred and secular domains is to deny the sovereignty of God.
God is over all of his creation. There are many spheres within creation. Each of these spheres can be influenced by the redemptive, compassionate and loving servanthood of people of the Kingdom. All of life relates to God. What happens in each of these spheres is equally important. To serve in the market place is a calling just like it is to be in church ministry.
2. Kingdom is a present reality
When Jesus began his ministry he said “The Kingdom of God is at hand”. Later on he talked about things that were to happen in the future concerning the Kingdom.
So we see here an important principle about the Kingdom. It is both ‘now’ and ‘not yet’. There is a tension here that needs to be recognized. If we focus solely on the ‘now’ of the Kingdom we can reduce the Kingdom to social action focused on changing the world. Alternatively if we focus on the ‘not yet’ emphasis we fail to address the current pains and needs of the world.
Jesus saw the ministry of the Kingdom was fulfilling the prophecy in Isaiah 61. In Luke 4:18-19 Jesus outlines the integral and holistic nature of the Kingdom. It is good news to those who are disinherited either physically, socially, politically or spiritually. The Kingdom relates to every level and arena of human life and existence. The Hebrew word ‘shalom’ aptly describes the result of the Kingdom coming to a person or a community. It means the establishment of peace between man and God and the well-being, welfare or safety of an individual or a community.
Our challenge as Christians is to know what the will of God is and to work with God by the power of the Holy Spirit to see it happen in earth. Commenting on Matt 6:10 NT Wright, one of the leading theologians of our time, makes this observation. “It’s a prayer about God’s kingdom coming on earth -which, as we have seen, pretty much sums up what Christianity is all about.”
So simply put – Christianity can be summarized as seeing God’s kingdom come on earth.
3. The Church is not the Kingdom
The question must then be asked. If the Kingdom is the central message of the gospels and really summarises the essential heart of Christianity – why do we hear so little about the Kingdom of God from the pulpit or in the books we read and the DVDs we watch.
The answer is quite simple. We have substituted the church for the Kingdom. In other words many Christians believe what God is doing in the earth is predominantly expressed thru the church. Accompanied with this has been the reduction of the gospel to the gospel of salvation not the gospel of the Kingdom. As a result much of Christian thinking has been focused on individual salvation and the building up of the church.
Amongst other things such thinking shows a lack of understanding of the nature of God’s sovereignty. God exercises His sovereignty in two ways – saving grace and common grace. As agents of saving grace Christians are to evangelize and bring people to Christ. “As agents of God’s common grace, we are called to help sustain and renew his creation, to uphold the created institutions of family and society, to pursue science and scholarship, to create works of art and beauty, and to heal and help those suffering from the results of the Fall.” (Colson)
We see this principle in the commissions given by Jesus. In what is called the “Great Commission ‘- there is the call to evangelism and discipleship: While in the “Great Commandment’ – we are called to love our neighbour which includes social action.
4. Kingdom is within every person
When Jesus was talking to the Pharisees in Luke 17:21 he made another important observation about the Kingdom. He said to them “the Kingdom is in your midst” – referring to himself but this can also be translated the Kingdom of God is within you. This concept is reiterated by Paul in Romans when he says “that which is known about God is evident within them” (Rom 1:17) Kant wrote “Two things strike me with awe, the starry heavens above and the moral law within”
We are made to obey the laws of the Kingdom. Like the law of gravity these laws operate whether we acknowledge them or not. Why for example does it feel good when we do good? Dr Adler, a Jewish psychiatrist, states “I suppose all the ills of human personality can be traced back to one thing – not understanding the meaning of the phrase ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’”
This is how the Kingdom operates. Similarly when we make choices that hurt others we experience inner disquiet because we are working against the truth of God that is within us. Living against the laws of the Kingdom affects our health. Psychiatrist William Sadler put it this way “If we lived in a truly Christian way, half the diseases of the people of America would drop off tomorrow morning and we would stand up a new healthy people.”
Because we are made in the image of God each of us has within us what Wright calls ‘the echoes of the Spirit’. He identifies four characteristics:
• Longing for justice
• Quest for spirituality
• Hunger for relationships
• Delight in beauty
5. Kingdom happens outside the church
Most Kingdom activity will take place outside of church. Let me go further – the activity of the Holy Spirit is not restricted to those places where Christians are active. The Holy Spirit can and does speak and work within the lives of those who have not yet met the King of the Kingdom.
Take some clear examples from the book of Acts. Phillip is in the midst of a revival when the Holy Spirit directs him to leave this move of God to go into the dessert. There Phillip is led to meet a leader from Ethiopia who just happens to be reading Isaiah 53 and is wondering who this prophecy is talking about. Clearly the Holy Spirit was at work long before Phillip came onto the scene. What made it a significant moment from a Kingdom perspective was Phillip’s obedience to be at the right place at the right time to work with the Holy Spirit.
A similar theme emerges in the story of Cornelius. A God-fearing Roman centurion who is visited by an angel and directed to send men to Jerusalem to get Peter to come to his house. Peter struggles with this situation because the work of the Kingdom – initiated by the Holy Spirit – is happening in a realm outside his frame of reference. This is an important principle of the Kingdom – to be able to recognize and work with the activity of the Holy Spirit as He moves into new spheres.
If we reduce the Kingdom by limiting the scope within which the Holy Spirit can work then we limit the effectiveness of the gospel. Rather we should be asking God to show us where the Holy Spirit is already at work within our communities and then looking for ways to work with Him for the expansion of the Kingdom.
When it comes to the church we can think of Sunday as the church ‘gathered’ and Monday as the church ‘scattered’. Sunday then becomes a time to strengthen, encourage and equip Christians to take the Kingdom into their world.
As church growth expert, Eddie Gibbs says, churches should shift from an invitational, ‘Come’, seeker service strategy (which works in largely churched suburbs) to a ‘Go’ strategy of dispersal, with a sustained commitment to infiltrating each segment of this fragmenting world.
6. Kingdom is expressed in a variety of passions
As we have established the Kingdom is all about the will of God being done on the earth. For this to happen “God’s passion must become our passion” (Wright) When we consider the nature and character of God we recognize that His passions are broad and diverse. The means the Kingdom will be expressed in a wide variety of passions.
This table highlights some of the different passions we find within the different members of the Godhead.
Just a bit of theology to explain this table. In the unfolding of creation each member of the Godhead has taken the lead in the various phases. So for example we see the Father took the lead in Creation, the Son in salvation and the Holy Spirit in completing the work begun thru the Incarnation. So we can link the three great commissions to each member of the trinity.
It follows from this each of these mandates reflect different aspects of the Kingdom. Creation mandate – has a strong emphasis on social justice, dominion, arts and politics. The evangelistic mandate focuses on evangelism and discipleship. While the relational mandate focuses more on spiritual power and signs and wonders.
So here we have explained three different streams within the Christian tradition – the liberals, evangelical and the pentecostials. Each stream validly represents different godly passions.
Once we see the vastness of the Kingdom it helps understand how other people can be equally passionate about a range of issues that may not stir our hearts. This passion is an expression of the heart of God for His creation. We are to pursue the passion God has given us but equally to validate and appreciate the passion He has put in others.
7. Kingdom fruit is more than evangelism
Recently I had the opportunity to preach on the Kingdom in my local church. As part of this message I referred to the warning from Jesus that if we don’t produce the fruit of the Kingdom then God will take the Kingdom from us and give it to someone else who is being productive for the Kingdom (Matt 21:43).
It follows that for us to be effective for the Kingdom we need to know what is Kingdom fruit and how can we produce it. In response to this message I had an interesting talk with my friend Mark Darling.
Mark is a psychologist who specializes in neurofeedback therapy for Autism Spectrum conditions. Neurofeedback is a non-invasive, painless and fun therapy for children on the Spectrum that is based on complex scientific processes. Mark’s dedication to this field of study was initiated by the journey he and Kym have walked with their son Nathan.
He has seen amazing results with families that have been torn apart by trying to cope with children suffering from these conditions. But despite these great results Mark made this comment: “And yet the little voice says what’s the point of all this if they don’t actually get saved and become Christians…”
So here’s the rub – what is Kingdom fruit? Is what Mark does producing the Kingdom or does it only become Kingdom if someone makes a personal commitment to Jesus?
Many Christians would claim the latter. The only thing that really counts they believe from God’s view point is personal salvation. But is this what the Scripture teaches. When asked to explain how we should fulfill the great commandment to love our neighbor Jesus used the illustration of the good Samaritan. Nowhere in this story is there the suggestion that seeing the wounded man saved is the measure by which fulfilment of the commandment will be measured. The ministry of Jesus is summarized in Acts in that he went about doing good and healing those who were oppressed (Acts 10:38).
While it’s always possible to swing towards social action and to neglect an emphasis on evangelism – it is wrong I believe to say that those who promote justice, healing, compassion and mercy from a Christian perspective are not reflecting the heart of God and thus producing the fruit of the Kingdom. As they do this they are sowing seeds of hope and salvation that will in many cases turn people’s hearts towards encountering for themselves the reality of a personal relationship with the King of the Kingdom.
8. Every Christian is an agent for the Kingdom
Last year I was presenting a seminar called “Rediscovering the Kingdom of God’. After listening to my seminar a guy called Matt came up to me, thanked me for my teaching and then made a comment that has stuck with me ever since. He said “I go to church every Sunday and I watch all that is going on and I think there’s got to be more to my Christian faith than this”
Be clear Matt wasn’t bagging church but he had a desire to see his faith expressed in a meaningful way in the world in which he lived.
For many Christians the highlight of their week is the Sunday service. Sadly many believe this is where the Kingdom of God is primarily expressed. Ministry is confined to that which is done within the church. This is demonstrated in the true story of a young lawyer who was asked what her ministry was. She replied “I teach Sunday school at my church” What a travesty!! Nothing she did during the week in bringing justice, compassion and resolution to the world in which she worked counted, in her mind, as having any spiritual value. How can we change people’s thinking to break free of this Sunday/Monday dichotomy?
Our faith makes us responsible to bring the Kingdom into every area of life. In the words of Justine, a Burundian living in Rwanda, “I see what Jesus meant by the kingdom of God. I see that it’s about changing this world, not just escaping it and retreating into our churches. If Jesus’ message of the kingdom of God is true, then everything must change. Everything must change.”
What a profound insight – when the Kingdom is expressed – everything must change. The change begins in us and then it finds its expression in the world in which we live and work. It is about bringing God’s mercy, compassion, justice and righteousness into every sphere of His creation. So our lawyer friend has the opportunity and responsibility to bring about change in her chosen field of endeavour by using her gifts, training and experience to be an agent for change – an agent for the Kingdom.
To illustrate how this happens Jesus used a parable of the wheat and the tares. (Matt 13:36-43) The field is the world and it belongs to Jesus. He sows people of the Kingdom into the field to produce the Kingdom. While there is opposition it is in this context that the will of God is done on the earth.
What does all this mean for me?

Worry means to be anxious, troubled, or uneasy. It is a strong feeling of anxiety that causes unhappiness. It also causes mental agitation or distress which disturbs our peace. Worry is not the will of God for us.
God is our provider, when we seek his kingdom first, he w Worry reveals a lack of total faith in God to provide for us. When we seek the kingdom with all our hearts, we will overcome worry. Worry is a habit that we can change. Worry is triggered by negative thoughts, words, beliefs and negative assumptions, which are usually not the truth. Worrying is unproductive and steals our focus from God. Worrying puts us in a weakened state of mind, and steals our joy and peace of mind.

We live in a world of troubled hearts. Look around you at the people you know who are troubled about various issues. You have to admit there are lots of unhappy people in just the folks you know and love.
The economy is troubling to many people. People who have not lost their job, but are fretting over the possibility they might lose it. People who are not sick hear about a friend who has breast cancer and now they are concerned about their own health. Nancy broke up with Robert and now she is worried about what he is doing.
Some people seem troubled because there is no trouble that they need to be worried about. So they are restless.
I want to address a whole different kind of trouble that touched the lives of the disciples of Jesus. The time had arrived when Jesus had to prepare for the cross. His disciples had no clue that he was going to die. They just assumed that He would be with them all the time and that soon He would establish His kingdom.
When Jesus gave them some indication what would be happening in just a few days, they become heart sick and troubled. First, they could not bear to think of losing their friend, their teacher, their miracle worker. Second, what would become of them? Jesus was their protector. He knew how to keep the religious critics at bay. Third, what about all the plans for a kingdom here on earth where they would surely be key players?
Jesus knew what His disciples were thinking. He knew they were vexed in their spirit. He knew that inside they were devastated, fearful. I think they were border-line panic stricken. Try to visualize this scene when Jesus addressed this conflict raging in their mind and soul.
In John 14:1, Jesus said to his trusted men, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.”
I think Jesus is speaking to all of us who have troubled souls and spirits. When a Christian boils down his trouble it can be reduced to a God problem-a faith problem, or a lack thereof.
Jesus knew they believed in God. So He starts there. “Ye believe in God…” Well, you do believe in God don’t you? He doesn’t ask this as a question since He knows what they are thinking. He is simple saying, if you believe in God, and I know you do, believe also in me.”
Wouldn’t it be wonderful in the midst of whatever is gnawing at our insides, if we could hear Jesus calmly speak to us and say, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.” You know it would be comforting. It’s difficult for Christians to look at their troubles and equate them to spiritual deficits or conflicts. We see them as money troubles; relationship issues; health concerns. But at the root it is, indeed, a spiritual matter.
Now Jesus jumps forward with His comfort for His disciples. He answers a question they have not asked, but surely they must be thinking in Verse 2, “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.”
How practical it is to think of Heaven as a place where the Father lives. The Father has a house-a big house in Heaven. A home large enough to accommodate all of His people that He saves. That home is so large that within the house are rooms spacious enough that Jesus calls them mansions. Some translations even calls them “rooms.” Some are insulted that such translations rob them of their “mansion” by calling that word “rooms.” Don’t be insulted, whatever the term, whether mansions or rooms, we will all be living in the Father’s house “in my Father’s house are many mansions.” Not only will there be room, but lots of room-”many mansions.”
Jesus very carefully lets them know that if what He is now telling them is not true, He would have already addressed all of this and made it crystal clear for them. “If it were not so, I would have told you.” Then tacks on something filled with comfort. He will share a golden truth why He is going away from them at this critical time. Look what He tells them: “I go to prepare a place for you.” It’s as if He is saying to them, “You already know my Father is in Heaven. You know Heaven is a real destination. You are aware that My Father has a home up there. What I want you to understand is that while I am out of your sight, I will go to Heaven and prepare a place for you.”
When you think about it, if you are troubled about Jesus leaving and you learn from His mouth that He will do something special for you while He is gone. You can start adjusting to that. You might even say, this could work out. But not yet. As comforting and as promising as these words are, the disciples are still distraught.
Jesus does not stop there. He continues: “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.” John 14:3,4
I think it is a whole lot easier for us today reading these words to reason that the disciples should have been immediately comforted than it was for them back then. I know it was difficult for at least one of them. Listen, “Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?” Verse 5
Now comes the snow plough clearing out the heavy snow drifts of doubt and troubling thoughts. Jesus will share a central truth with them and lets us overhear it. What He is about to say to them should ring true in our hearts, too.
“Jesus saith unto him (Thomas), I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Verse 6
Let Thomas represent you, me and the world of Christians, Jesus is telling him, “I, Jesus Christ, am the way…” The way? What way? What is He talking about in Verse 2. He is talking about His Father’s house and the mansions there. Jesus is assuring Thomas (and us) that He (Jesus, Himself) is the way to all that He has just promised them. Nothing could be simpler and more clear than what He is unfolding in these verses.
Jesus is the “way” for salvation, for Heaven, for your mansion. It’s not the church. It’s not the preacher. It’s not your money. It’s not your skill set, your talent, your intellect, your wisdom, your attractiveness. It is Jesus, or nothing. It is Him, for there is no other way. Acts 4:12 says, “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
When the Bible says, “Nor is there salvation in any other…” it means just that. He is the WAY! He said it Himself. But He didn’t stop there. “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Verse 6
He adds “I am the truth.” Truth is a wonderful word. When we know the truth all of the clouds go away. We can see what must be seen. We can understand what we should know. “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32
There is a liberation-a freedom when truth becomes known in our heart. Jesus is that central truth. He said, “I am the truth…” He adds to that power duo “way and truth” these words, “I am the life.” “The way, the truth and the life.”
There is no spiritual life apart from Jesus Christ. You can fake lots of things in the religious world, but life is not one of them. You, the individual, know whether or not you have spiritual life. You don’t have to wonder. You don’t have to guess. You know in your own heart-the condition of your heart.
Church membership will not get you into heaven. Being baptized will not open the doors to heaven for you. Trying to keep the ten commandments won’t work for you. Being religious will not cut it. You have to have life. That life is in Jesus and can only be imparted by Him to you via the Holy Spirit.
Jesus has prepared them by letting them know the time is fast approaching when He must die. It’s not like this is a secret. Every blood sacrifice offered in the Old Testament right on through to the day He spoke these words were providing a picture of His death. The prophets of old had this word. This great truth was written in the sacred Scriptures. It was told in the earliest hours after creation when Adam and Eve fell into sin. From that day until the day Jesus is speaking to His disciples the plan has not changed. Jesus would die.
This article is much to short to cover all of the Old Testament teaching concerning Jesus and the price He would have to pay for our sin. But this truth is recorded clearly and often in the blessed Scriptures. The truth runs through the old Book like a bloody red thread. It is easy for Christians today to look back and see each mention of this great truth. However, it was hidden from the disciples-on purpose. They did not know!
I am about to share a truth from Scripture that most Christians miss. That is not surprising-the disciples missed it, too. Jesus shared it with them from His mouth to their ears, but they did not get it. The following is a truth that was hidden in plain sight.
Luke 18:31-34, “Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.
32For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on:
33And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.
34And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.”
The Bible says, “they understood none of these things…” Why? “This saying was hidden from them.” Who hid it from them? Jesus did. The Holy Spirit did. God, the Father did. When God hides a matter from you-it can’t be found. They would remember all of these words later, but not now. It is too early in the plan that is unfolding. The Old Testament Scriptures would be remembered later, but not now. These words were hidden.
That is why the disciples were troubled. Their minds had been darkened from the central truth of Scripture so they would not reveal it before hand. There is no telling what these good men would have done had all of this been clear to them as it was about to happen.
>But to give them a measure of comfort and assurance Jesus very lovingly said, “I am the way, the truth and the life…”
He tells them and in the telling is sharing with us, “No man (or woman) cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6
How narrow is the way to Heaven? Jesus Christ. There is no other way. No other plan. It is Jesus, or nothing. Why would you want a different route? Why would you look for another to come and rescue you?
The great truth that was hidden from His disciples is no longer covered. Jesus Christ was lifted up on the old, rugged cross almost 2000 years ago. The Bible says, “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.”John 12:32
When we started this article we began with “troubled hearts.” If your heart is troubled then take your troubles to Jesus. If you have never trusted Him for salvation, remember He is the way. If you wonder what is truth. He said, “I am the truth.” If you are puzzled about the direction you should take, He said, “I am the way.” Turn to Him today. Believe on Him the best you know how. He will take you in. He will accept you. He will not turn you away. “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that comes to me I will in no wise cast out.” John 6:37
It could not be clearer than that. You have His Word on the matter. Turn to Him now.
If you are a Christian living a guilty distance from God-return to Him today. He is calling for you now. Let the words of the old hymn, “Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling” speak to you: Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling, calling for you and for me; see, on the portals he’s waiting and watching, watching for you and for me. Come home, come home; ye who are weary come home; earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling, calling, O sinner, come home!
