Nikon Stereoscopic 20x Field Microscope Mini USA
Nikon Mini – hard to get at – John Katko –
I use the Nikon Mini microscope to identify sedges and grasses in the field. It is indeed small – it fits in its case under my car seat. And its plastic body makes it very light; it’s no problem to put it into a little backback.
However, there are two issues that make it less than perfect to use. First, the field of view is very narrow – only 11 mm. Second, it is difficult to get your eye close to the lenses because your nose runs into the bulky ocular carriage (I’m not especially large-beaked, either). This means you have to really arch your neck to get a good look at the specimen – pretty uncomfortable after a few minutes’ examination.
I’m not sure how durable the body of the microscope will be; although the optics are good so far as they go, I can’t imagine the body adding much cost to the microscope, so 0 is a pretty stiff price to pay for it. It is interesting that one of the suggested tags is “educational toy”; this is pretty pricey for a toy.
It would be better to get something a little bigger and bulkier if it had better viewing features.

The Kingdom of Heaven

Image : http://www.flickr.com
After years of studying and writing about world religions and spiritual paths a common message appears in each of the world’s major teachings, whether it be an eastern or western religion, spiritual group or master, and that is that one day we humans will all live together in happiness and peace in a divine relationship with God right here on earth. We will transcend our lower nature and live in divine communion in paradise: a kingdom of heaven on earth. Many believe this age is upon us. We have come to a point where we are realizing that God never left; the presence of the Divine lies within us, and around us, as spirit. It is spirit that animates our existence. When we realize our true nature as spirit, and recognize this spirit in each other, and in everything, at all times, in all places, then we enter into this heavenly state, for the kingdom of heaven lies within.
While doing research for my next book I came upon a powerful description in the Gospel of Thomas by Jesus’ brother, this Gospel was very popular among Christians in the first and second century but for various political reasons was not included in the New Testament, and whether you are a Christian or not it provides powerful insight into the nature of our existence. In the third paragraph of this gospel, Jesus tells his disciples:
“…the kingdom is inside you, and it is outside of you. When you come to know yourselves, then you will come to be known, and you will realize that it is you who are the sons of the living father.”
Then in paragraph 113, his disciples said to him: “When will the kingdom come?” And Jesus said:
“It will not come by waiting for it. It will not be a matter of saying ‘here it is’ or ‘there it is.’ Rather, the kingdom of the father is spread out upon the earth, and men do not see it.”
This is completely consistent with the concept of Self-Realization and God-Realization, for when you enlighten you come to know your own nature and realize the living presence God here on earth. You enter into a state of consciousness where you realize God’s presence within you and around you. So, those who have eyes let them see. God never left, that which created us is sustaining us even now and we have never been separate from Him. Connect with that life force, innate intelligence, or spirit that you are and allow your mind to realize that it is you.
You are entering a revelation in consciousness. You have evolved your conscious awareness to the point that you have realized that there is something to be realized or you wouldn’t be reading this. You are being guided by spirit to awaken from the dream and drama that your mind has created and are remembering who you are and why you were born so that you may fulfill the purpose of your existence. You are invited to God-Realization and to enter the kingdom of heaven on earth.

Estorramps – The Wheelchair Ramps of the Future!
I had to review this new product as its going to prove a game changer for anyone who has to use a wheelchair to get about, and I know a few who are eagerly awaiting this shinny new ramp already. Before I begin this is completely new and it is completely different to anything currently available to the general public – I will be updating this article when more information is available but thought it really needed to be publicised as soon as possible;-
Estorramps are still in testing and not available yet in shops but are set to be the latest in wheelchair convenience. They’re telescopic and mechanical so extend and contract as the wheelchair ascends a flight of stairs! These special ramps will allow the wheelchair user to move upward as the ramp moves! This will literally allow the user to go up an unlimited number of stairs rather than just a couple as current ramps do.
You will need to affix it to the front of your chair at the bottom of the first step and remove it again at the top before you can wheel away, but its looking like the attachment is going to be easy and fast (hopefully strong too!) Currently the ramp is very slow and needs a battery pack that has to be charged every 2 – 5 uses, depending on the distance traveled, and they haven’t perfected the downward movement yet. But this nifty new gadget is set to revolutionise the way the disabled wheelchair user goes about their everyday life. Watch this space!

Christian Principles – Grace Sets the Heart on Fire For Jesus

Image : http://www.flickr.com
In the world there is great argument concerning where stands grace versus where stands works. Notice that I have said “in the world”. This is because only those still in the world fail to understand that grace sets the heart on fire for Jesus while works of law merely bind the heart to deeds of the flesh. It is the difference between a religious mindset versus a personal encounter with the risen Christ.
I won’t take long with this message. You may notice that I haven’t written for a spell. This is partly due to a heavy workload, but it is mostly an act of choice. I have taken some time to grow in knowledge, to better understand the difference between a grace that frees and a so-call grace that binds. There are so many who would tie misapplied verse upon misapplied verse to their demands of what it takes to be a Christian. Jesus spoke of them when he addressed those who bind burdens upon others that they themselves will not lift even with their little finger.
Grace. The wonderful birthplace of salvation, through grace, by a faith that is not the work of men. In the book of Romans, the apostle Paul puts forth a simple statement when he writes:
“And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work,” (Romans 11:6).
Now there are legalists who fear this work of grace. It takes the righteousness from the hands of men and places it into the finished work of Christ alone. They wrongly believe that walking in the freedom of the Spirit in grace will move men to sin. They know not the power of God to complete the work that he begins. Worse, even as they boast of obedience to many laws and place their faith in their own lies to self, they live in the greater sin of unbelief for they do not accept that God stabilizes his own.
Ah, but true understanding of grace can only be acquired through a personal walk with God. It brings together a combination of his love, our desire to be what he has already declared us to be, and his personal presence within us to bring it to past. This is a simple truth that the world of legalists cannot comprehend.
In the book of Luke, we are told of how two disciples of the crucified Lord walked the road to Emmaus. As they traveled, they discussed the matter of all that had happened at Calvary. Their hearts were heavy and downcast because in their spirit there was no belief in the words that Jesus had spoken concerning a suffering, a death, and a resurrection.
But then Jesus came and walked among them. Yet their unbelieving eyes could not behold that it was he. The bible record of his discussion with them revealed the great depth of their unbelief. These were men who knew the rules and the laws and the regulations and the methods of atonement, but they had not yet learned the value of a personal relationship with Jesus.
As they walked, they told him of the promise, of the crucifixion, and of the words of others that claimed his resurrection. They told him about visions of angels and of an empty sepulcher. They even knew scripture sufficiently to speak of how they had thought that he would be the spoken of deliver. But their belief remained dead.
Then Jesus responded to their hard heartedness. It is record in this manner:
“Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further. But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent.
And he went in to tarry with them. And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them. And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight. And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures? And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them, Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon. And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread,” (Luke 24:25-35).
Now to draw your attention to a very simple fact of this section of scripture, notice first what Jesus did not teach these men.
Though they were in the sin of unbelief, he did not use scripture to proclaim all the rules and laws that would make and keep them right. No, indeed, for though he spoke of Moses by name, he mentioned not at all the law that Moses had delivered into the hand of Israel. Why? Because the law cannot save nor can it keep men saved.
Rather he taught them of what the scriptures had to say about the Christ. Is it not written, are these not his words, “he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself”? No, he did not teach law, he taught a personal relationship. For after that he had opened their yes, it was not of the law that they spoke these words, “Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?” A walk with the risen Lord of Creation, that is what ignited their faith, and their belief, and their hope.
Live by the law if you must, but seek not to drag others into your hell. For he who lives by the law will die by the law. I would that every Christian could know what it is to have their heart burn for the joy of that wonderful personal relationship with God, through grace, that frees the soul and liberates the ability to love in truth as did that wonderful Bishop who is portrayed in the book, Les Miserables. Therein lived a man who understood grace and shared it freely.
Go and do likewise.

Did Jesus Ever Get Angry?

Image : http://www.flickr.com
One day Jesus and His disciples went down to Jerusalem. It was the time of the Passover, when Jews from all over the world gathered there. Their beautiful temple was crowded. Many Jews came from long distances and could not bring animals for sacrifice with them so they bought them in the city. Some people who thought this would be a good way to make some money had set up a shop inside the temple where they sold oxen, sheep, and doves. They would also change money from any of the other countries into what was needed there in Jerusalem.
The leaders of the Jews knew about this and let them do it. No doubt Jesus had seen them doing this many times, since He had been coming to Jerusalem every year from the time He was twelve as the men of the Israelites were commanded to do.
This time when He came into the temple, He had made a little whip of cords or rushes. He used this whip to drive all the animals out of the temple. He poured out all the money and turned the tables upside down. Then He said to the men, “Take these things out of here. Do not make My Father’s house a market for buying and selling. It is to be a house of worship and prayer.”
The Jews were very much excited and very angry about this. They said to Him, “What right have you to do this? Who are you? Show us your authority or by what right you do this.” Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple and I will raise it up in three days.” The Jews thought He was speaking of the building in which they were then and they said, “Why, it took forty-six years to build this temple. Who do you think you are that you can build it in three days?”
Jesus was not speaking of the temple building. He was speaking of His body, and thinking about the time when the Jews would put Him to death and He would rise again in three days. The Jews could not understand what He meant, and they did not believe Him. But many people did believe and follow Him. He was showing them that He had authority from God to act as a King.
The kingdom over which the Lord Jesus now rules is in the hearts of men and women and children. Because everyone in the world is born with sinful hearts like those of our first parents Adam and Eve, we like to rule our hearts ourselves. When we see this is wrong and turn to Jesus, He does something wonderful for us, just as He turned the water into wine. He changes our naughty hearts into hearts that want to live for Him and please Him. He Himself comes in to be King and rule our hearts.
When Jesus comes in to rule, He cleans up all the dirty corners just as He cleansed the temple of all the things that were wrong. Lying, cheating, selfishness, envy, hatred, disobeying and many other things belong to the kingdom of darkness and must go out when the Lord Jesus comes in as King. Will you tell the Saviour now that you want Him to be King and cast all the dark things out of your life? Ask Him for forgiveness for all the wrong things you have done. Repent and be baptized and you will be given the gift of eternal life.

Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled

Image : http://www.flickr.com
Matthew 24:3-7: Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?’
‘
4. And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you.
5. “For many will come in My name, saying, `I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.
6. “And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7. “For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.
In recent years, events around the world have raised many questions in the hearts and minds of both believers and non-believers alike. We can look at some of the most horrible and devastating events to have occurred in decades.
The tsunami waves that hit in the Indian Ocean were the result of one of the most powerful earthquakes ever recorded. Hurricane Katrina destroyed the city of New Orleans.
But what does that mean to both believers and non-believers? Is this an “act of God” as insurance companies put it, or is it God punishing the world for some reason?
As a believer, who understands the love and mercy of God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, my answer to these questions is no, definitely not. It was not an act of God and it was not a punishment of God. What is it then, you may ask?
To understand what has happened we need to look at the beginning of creation.
Genesis 1:1,4,10,12,18,21,25,31: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth… And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. .. And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters He called Seas. And God saw that it was good…And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good… So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good… And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good…Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
In the beginning God created the Earth and everything in it, God saw it and God decided it was Good. God was pleased with all he had created for it was perfect, nothing was wrong with it. God placed Adam and Eve in a perfect environment, it was exactly what they needed to live and fellowship with God. What happened then? Satan came, deceived Eve and tempted Adam and sin entered the world.
Genesis 1:26-28: Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
27. So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
28. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Adam was created to have dominion over all the Earth, but he sinned and gave the authority to the enemy, Satan and sin, and the consequences of sin entered the world.
Luke 4:5-8: 5. Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
20. And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish.
20. “Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.”
8. And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, `You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.
This event took place during the temptation of Christ. Satan, the devil, plainly tells Jesus that all the kingdoms of the world, belong to him, that includes everything about them. Satan tells Jesus that the world has been delivered to him. When, you ask? When Adam gave it to him. Satan is the God of this world as explained in the following verse.
Living Bible 2 Corinthians 4:4: Satan, who is the god of this evil world, has made him blind, unable to see the glorious light of the Gospel that is shining upon him, or to understand the amazing message we preach about the glory of Christ, who is God.
As Satan rules the world, His sinful ways ravage it, and it like us, patiently waits to be restored to it’s original form of perfection.
Living Bible: Romans 8:19-22 For all creation is waiting patiently and hopefully for that future day when God will resurrect his children. For on that day thorns and thistles, sin, death, and decay -the things that overcame the world against its will at God’s command–will all disappear, and the world around us will share in the glorious freedom from sin which God’s children enjoy. For we know that even the things of nature, like animals and plants, suffer in sickness and death as they await this great event.
Yes, not only does man suffer the ravages of sin, but the Earth does also. Earthquakes, floods, famine, drought, and every other act of nature tell us two things. That satan, the god of this world, destroys everything he touches, including nature, and innocent people as a result, but also it gives us a great hope, because to the believer it heralds in the second coming of Christ. Yes, I do believe that all the things that have happened in the past fifty years or so, are leading to the return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Matthew 21:33,42-44: “So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near, at the very doors…”Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.
43. “But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into.
44. “Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not expect Him.
So, were these tsunami waves, God’s Judgment or another sign of the times? I believe it is a sign of the times. Therefore we need to be ready for Christ’s return. I am not going to even try to tell you it will be in our lifetime. As a born-again, spirit filled believer, I plan on living my life for the glory of God and nothing else. I plan on trying to live my life as God intended, working to please Him in everything I do, and bring glory to God, Jesus Christ and the kingdom of Heaven. If I do this, then it doesn’t really matter when Jesus returns, I will be ready. If Jesus comes today, tomorrow or I die before He returns, I will not be dismayed. I know that what Jesus tells me in His Word is true and if I meet Him on His return or when I die, I know that I will be with Him forever. Amen!!
1 Thessalonians 1:10:. and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18: 13. But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.
14. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
15. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep.
16. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
17. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
18. Therefore comfort one another with these words.
Yes, God has given each of us a promise of eternal life and we are to live our life in anticipation of that promise. What does that mean? Living a righteous God centered life.
Trusting Him with all your heart and understanding, and not in yourself. Giving of yourself completely, accepting the finished work of Christ on the cross and accepting Him as your Lord and Savior, if you have not done so. Do not let yourself be troubled Jesus promised He would return for us and He will!
John 14: 1-4: 1. “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.
2. “In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3. “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
4. “And where I go you know, and the way you know.”
Do you know Jesus as your Lord and Savior? Do you want to be a joint heir with Christ?
If so, I urge you to earnestly pray the following prayer.
Dear Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus. Your word says, “…and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.” (Jn.6:37),
So I know You won’t cast me out, but You take me in, And I thank you for it. You said in your Word, “whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Ro. 10:13).
I am calling on Your name, So I know You have saved me now, You also said, “…that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation.” (Ro.10:9,10).
I believe in my heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I believe He was raised from the dead for my justification. And I confess Him now as my Lord, Because Your Word says, “… with the heart one believes to righteousness…” and I do believe with my heart, I have now become the righteousness of God in Christ. (2 Cor. 5:21),
And I am saved! Thank You, Lord!
I can now truthfully say, I see myself as a born again child of God!
Glory to God!!!! Amen.
I was raised Catholic, and was born again at the age of 17. I received God’s call into ministry at the age of 19 and began to prepare for ministry. I graduated from Rhema Bible Training Center in 1979. The Lord has called me to teach. My desire is to help all that are seeking to come into a deeper understanding of what God has done for us through Christ Jesus and I have started a web site for this purpose called The Olive Branch; Please visit us for more free studies and resources to help you on your journey.
