Goal Setting – Get Your Needs Met – Tips from a Life Coach

Filed under: Richardson Bill — Tags: — kebcata @ 6:31 am

What do you need most in life? Love? Recognition? Security? You may have been unconsciously trying to fill these needs resulting in hurt and disappointment in yourself and others. There is an effective process for filling your needs and building a reserve that a life coach can provide.

“Understanding human needs is half the job of meeting them.” Adlai E. Stevenson Jr., speech, October 3, 1952. US diplomat & Democratic politician (1900 – 1965)

The human spirit has so many needs to varying degrees; some of these are Be Accepted, To Accomplish, Be Acknowledged, Be Loved, Peace, Power, and Certainty. Then within each category we customize it. For example, within Honesty one could customize it as forthrightness, tell all, loyalty, uprightness, frankness, no lying, no censoring, sincerity, no secrets or something else.

Some needs are stronger for some than others. What are some of your strongest needs? To get closer to your need, ask yourself: What do I need to be my best? If I had this, I would be able to achieve my goal and vision without effort. Do this before you read any further. What was the need that surfaced for you?

Now that you know what your greatest need is, how well is it being met?

Do you have a boundary in place that protects your heart, soul and self? A boundary is a safety line you draw that only allows the behaviors of others that are acceptable and nourishing to you. What are the behaviors of others that nourish you? What are the behaviors of others that are unacceptable to you? The line between those things is your boundary.

Do you have an automatic way for your need to be fulfilled? What do you need from others to get your need met? If you have a need for financial security have you communicated with your spouse or financial advisor how to best meet your need? Maybe you need to be included on spending decisions, or be included in a yearly meeting with your financial advisor,or you want to be more involved in bill paying? What ever you come up with put it into action.

At what level are your personal standards? Personal standards are the behaviors you hold yourself accountable to. These are as simple as do not steal to as complicated as holding yourself accountable for how others interpret your actions in spite of your intentions. Your personal standards should stretch you without setting yourself up to fail.

Once you have identified your need, set boundaries, and created automatic ways for your needs to be filled, your personal standards will rise because you will want to keep having that need met in better and better ways.

VaR Historical Simulation Method

We know one shortcoming of historical simulation (HS) is the result highly depends on the choice of sample data length, and VaR result does not vary often or changes suddenly. Despite this weakness, HS is still popular due to its obvious advantage: easy to implement, and no distribution assumption required, which is especially appealing if the estimate of distribution assumption is difficult.

Several ways have been proposed to improve HS’s performance, here are two selected methods with good results I personally use. The first one is named The Best of Both Worlds: A Hybrid Approach to Calculating Value at Risk by Jacob Boudoukh1, Matthew Richardson and Robert F. Whitelaw. By hybrid it means this approach is a combination of parametric method and HS.

The basic idea is since we can allocate larger weight to recent data and smaller weight to remote data for exponential weighted moving average (EWMA) volatility calculation, hence improves the backtesting performance of parametric method, why can’t we then apply a similar principle to historical simulation? does it make sense? So it estimates the VaR of a portfolio by applying exponentially declining weights to past returns and then finding the appropriate percentile of this time weighted empirical distribution. It does improve compared with the vanilla historical simulation and EWMA parametric method based on empirical results.

The second method is named Incorporating Volatility Updating into The Historical Simulation Method for Value at Risk by John Hull and Alan White. The idea is to “adjust” return based on the ratio of current volatility to the past volatility, and use historical simulation on the adjusted returns.

Supposing today’s volatility is 20%, while volatility was say, 30%, then past returns obviously exaggerate the current market situation if used directly. The empirical results also shows this method even outperforms the first one. Normally few lines of codes are enough for this adjustment, please read my post for the empirical results.

Auto Insurance With Bad Credit – How to Find Quality Coverage Without Paying a Fortune

It doesn’t really matter where you live, in just about all areas car insurance is required by law. And for people with less than perfect credit, rates can be significantly more expensive. Getting a good deal on auto insurance with bad credit is not impossible, if you know where to look you can certainly find a better rate.

If you have credit challenges you know that many areas of your life become more difficult. It can be tough to find a job, a place to live, and getting a bank to lend you money will be next to impossible. What some people don’t realize is that even car insurance providers will have a look at your credit report when deciding to take you on as a client and when determining your rates.

The reason that auto insurance is more expensive for people with bad credit is because studies have shown that people with poor credit file claims at a significantly higher rate than people with a good FICO score. The statistics force the insurance companies to take countermeasures. If there is a higher chance of a particular group filing claims, that group will be forced to pay higher premiums.

One solution to this problem would be to start working on cleaning up your credit score. This would be a good idea for a number of obvious reasons, not just getting a better price on your insurance. However, cleaning up your credit report can take months or even years and if you need to get auto insurance quickly you simply won’t have time to take the necessary steps to improve your credit score before applying for the coverage you need.

If you have credit challenges and you need to find an affordable auto insurance policy all you have to do is a little comparison shopping. Each company has specific demographics they are trying to find in order to balance their portfolio. Some companies will give people with bad credit a better deal than others and taking some time to shop around is the only way to find out which ones will give you a better deal.

There are hundreds of auto insurance companies competing for your business and finding one that offers a lower rate is really not very difficult. You can go online, fill out a short form, and in just a matter of minutes you can choose the company that offers the coverage you need at the best possible rates.

Compare auto insurance quotes quickly and easily. Get the best rates on your auto insurance and save a fortune. http://quick-car-insurance-quotes.com/

Bush expects Mideast peace treaty by next year

Hello on this Thursday, January 10, 2008. I’m Kristin Volk with a UPI news update. President Bush is predicting that a Middle East peace treaty would be signed by the time he leaves office in 2009. This comes as Bush visits Israel and the Palestinian territories this week and meets with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. The President said both men realize the importance of democratic states living together in peace. New Mexico governor Bill Richardson is reportedly quitting the race for the Democratic presidential nomination. The governor finished fourth place in both the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primary. A Democratic strategist says the lack of votes and money Richardson received during his campaign are forcing him to drop out. New York mayor Michael Bloomberg is apparently beginning to research whether to jump into the presidential race. Sources say data is being gathered but the mayor hasn’t begun analyzing it. Bloomberg has reportedly decided on early March as a timetable for making a decision. It’s been widely speculated that the mayor is interested in running for the White House as an independent. Six US soldiers are dead following a house explosion in Iraq. They were killed yesterday when a bomb exploded in a booby-trapped house while on patrol north of Baghdad. Four soldiers were also wounded in the attack. The incident was the first involving multiple deaths of US soldiers in Iraq since September. Thanks for

Which Company Offers the Cheapest Car Insurance Rates? – Easily Find the Best Deal

It’s a smart move to look around for the company that is offering the cheapest car insurance rates. Prices vary quite a bit from one company to another and it’s possible to save hundreds of dollars every year by finding a company that’s offering a more attractive price structure. However, answering the question of which company offers the best rates is not as easy as simply naming a particular company.

An insurance company determines the prices they charge for your premiums by trying to assess the amount of risk you pose to the company. In other words, how likely are you to be involved in an accident and cost the company money. Every insurance company has their own formulas for figuring out the amount of risk a potential customer poses. They consider things such as your age, gender, driving record, even things like your marital status or your credit score can be used to determine the level of risk. It’s also possible that a company may be trying to balance their portfolio and fill a certain demographic and the people who fall into that demographic may be eligible for a better deal.

There’s also a tremendous amount of competition between the various insurance companies. Prices are not stagnant, they are constantly changing and adjusting. The only way to find which insurance provider is currently offering the best price for someone of your particular age, gender, with your driving record etc. is to get quotes from a number of different insurance providers. You can get quotes from several of the top companies in just a matter of minutes making it very easy to find the coverage you need at the best possible price without even breaking a sweat.

Everything You Need to Know About Solar Panels

What are solar panels?

A solar panel is an easy to use instrument that allows you to produce electrical energy derived from solar power. The solar panel is a valuable appliance because it produces green energy and nowadays our environmental situation isn’t one of the best.

Instead, if we keep on taking no interest in the effects of smog, soon we will need to pay for years and years of consumerism that wasted away our planet – so it’s very useful to put in practice every day some actions that help our environment.

Why I can’t I keep using the electrical energy produced by factories?

The hydro-electrical factories produce electrical energy sourced from water – turning at a very high speed, it produces a a lot of power which is transformed into electricity.

The problem with this system is generally that the water that exits from the factory is at a too high temperature rather than the normal river water, resulting in the death of many fish. (But that isn’t all, in fact when that high-temperature water flows into the sea, the same thing happens. So not only the fish of the river die but also the sea fish.

How a Solar Panel Works?

The solar panel is often installed on the roof of a house (but it isn’t so necessary to install it on the roof) and receives the solar power. Once received, it transforms the solar power into electrical energy and makes it available for quotidianal use.

You can use that energy for the washing machine, for the dishwasher, the television, pc and to charge your phone too! You can use that energy for whatever you need it for.

This allows us to utilize the electrical energy that we produce ourselves for whatever domestic use, followed by a decrease in the electrical energy supplied by the industry and a decrease in the electrical bill (normally the solar panel saves between 50 – 65% of the total bill every month).

So, other than being ecological, it’s economical. But there is another point I want to underline: the energy produced by the solar panel is very abundant and it can be sold to electrical industries who pay you for it.

What are the benefits of a Solar Panel?

Summarizing, the use of solar panels has 3 major benefits:

- A decrease in electrical bills of up to 65%

- It produces electrical energy without polluting the environment

- The energy produced by it can be sold to electrical industries for a good return.

Dave M. Richardson has been an Alternative Energy Researcher for 7 years. He recently published a site ( http://www.squidoo.com/top-solar-panels-for-homes ) where he personally explains everything about solar panels for homes and how to get free energy.
