Hellboy [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack]

BELTRAMI,MARCO OK, but don’t believe the hype – D. J. Nardi – Washington, DC
I thought this was an OK soundtrack for an action movie, but certainly doesn’t rise very high compared to the greats of John Williams or Hans Zimmer. There’s a bit of a mix of rock and more traditional soundtracks. My guess is that this soundtrack is an acquired taste, so I’d only recommend getting it after seeing the movie (which makes sense anyway). Also, a lot of the tracks are short (2-3 minutes), so you barely have time to enjoy them. Overall, 2.5 stars.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army (OST)

ELFMAN,DANNY I can’t smile without you – D. J. Nardi – Washington, DC
The most memorable song in the movie was Abe’s rendition of “I can’t smile without you,” but it’s not on the soundtrack! What a shame. The rest of the tracks are pretty good, but again nothing that really stands out. It’s a bit too light for a movie starring a demon-man.
