Can you really steam clean a mattress? If this is your question, then my answer is yes, you can steam clean a mattress. Some people are hesitant to do more than scrub their mattresses clean.
There are many advantages to steam cleaning your mattress and one of them is that it gets rid of the unwanted and unseen bacteria and molds that are in your mattress. Another advantage of using this method is that it cuts down your cleaning time significantly as the heat from the steam gets rid of dirt easier.
Here are the steps you can follow so you can effectively do this method:
Step 1: Get all your cleaning materials ready. Your vapor steam cleaner is the most important, so get this ready first. Make sure you have a sponge, a brush, water, cleaning detergents and some baking powder.
Step 2: Put water in your vapor cleaner. Heads up, when you are doing this, make sure that your steamer is not yet plugged in to avoid accidents. Step 4: Using the suds from the detergent and a toothbrush with gentle bristles, scrub the dirty area until it is already clean enough to your satisfaction. Once you have covered all the dirty areas, steam clean the rest of the mattress.
Step 5: Dry it up using a sponge that sucks in all the moisture. Sprinkle some baking soda on your mattress as it helps a lot in extracting moisture and also odor from your mattress. You might also want to take advantage of the sun by sun drying it. It is imperative that you clean your mattress in a sunny day to help dry it up completely.
Steam cleaning a mattress is easier if you follow these very simple steps. You do not have to hire some extra hands just to make your mattress cleaner. Do this twice a year and your mattress will surely work like new for long years.

Advantages of Memory Foam Beds Over Traditional Spring Mattresses
A lot of us have tried or are probably still using spring mattresses. We could say that sleeping on spring beds or mattresses is comfortable until we got stung by a broken spring. Spring mattresses have been the standard for many decades but the memory foam mattresses have become even more popular to date because of the undeniable comfort as well as the overall body support that many would not believe until they have tried these out for themselves.
So why do more people choose memory mattresses over the standard spring mattresses?
There have been comparisons made between memory foam mattresses and spring mattresses and a lot of people could attest that they found sleeping on memory foam mattresses to be better. Lying on a spring mattress does feel nice but when it comes to body contouring as well as spinal support a spring mattress do not even comes close to what the memory foam mattress could give. When you use a spring mattress, your body conforms to it. While your weight is on the spring mattress, the springs exert a resisting force against your body. Because of this, a memory foam mattress is more supportive, though it is heavier. It comes in between the comfort of a really soft mattress and the stiffness and solidness of a firm one, making it a good compromise. A memory foam mattress of good quality is able to distribute weight evenly, which is like having your weight supported by billions of springs. A memory foam mattress has cells that deform whenever weight is applied. Unlike a spring mattress, which springs always exert pressure against your body’s weight, the cells in the memory foam mattress fully compress and spread their air pressure to the adjoining cells. With spring mattresses, there is always fiber or some type of foam that is placed over the springs, but these coils will cause a trampoline effect and tend to bend inward whenever pressure is applied and they do this without conforming to the body’s specific bumps and curves. A spring mattress acts as a shock absorber and this reduces the wear and tear of the mattress. So the fewer coils there are in the mattress, the thicker the springs get. Another thing about spring mattresses is that the foam covering the springs could shrink over time, making springs exert more effort in supporting the weight, thus making them susceptible to losing their shape or getting broken over time.
The firmness of a memory foam mattress is used in defining comfort. A memory foam mattress can be firm to supple. Because your weight is distributed evenly over a memory foam mattress, you get a firm feeling without your hips, back, and joints being compromised. And because a memory foam mattress adapts to your body heat, your body gets the cradling support it requires. Almost every Memory Foam Mattress is temperature sensitive. At lower temperatures, the mattress is firmer or more viscous while at higher temperatures, the memory foam mattress is softer making the mattress more comforting, as it is more elastic. The mattress‘s temperature sensitivity is responsible for the melting feeling you have whenever you are lying on it and this accentuates the foam’s molding affect. This is another thing that a spring mattress does not have. A spring mattress does not react to the heat of the user’s body.
When it comes to maintenance, a spring mattress has to be rotated once in a while, preferably once every three months. This is done to even the wear and it is important that you avoid bending or folding the mattress. With a memory foam mattress on the other hand, you do not have to flip it over or rotate it: it virtually requires no maintenance.
