Proper Way to Fold the American Flag

The truth is there is a proper way. If you go to a Memorial Ceremony you will notice that special focus is upon the folding of the American Flag. For years and years people saluted as people stood up with their right hand placed over the heart during the rise of the flag or the pledge of allegiance.

1.)There is also a proper way to lower the flag. People still stand to salute to the flag. As the American Flag is lowered and it is close to the ground, one of the individual will place one hand on each corner of the striped end.

If an American Flag should touch the ground.

Note: The American Flag should never touch the ground. If the flag touches the ground the flag should be burnt. Included with those flags that are to be burnt are torn, soiled, or tattered. The way we burn the flag out of respect would be to give “Old Glory” (American Flag) a proper Burning Ceremony. The American Legion and Boy Scouts burn thousands of flags every year. You can contact one of the two in order to properly dispose of the American Flag.

2.) As the flag continues to be lowered, the second individual will unhook the flag keeping one hand upon the first disconnected in and unhooking the second end. This individual will end up with the Star end of the Flag, one corner in one hand and the other corner in the other hand.

3.) The two men will then step backwards to stand far enough apart with their arms extended stretching the flag out completely.

4.) Fold with each man bringing their right hand and left hand together, still standing far apart. The individual will do this a told of two times. At this point the flag will become very narrow width, and length remaining the same.

5.) This is a very important part of folding the flag. Only one person, the individual that is holding both corners of the stripes will do this stage, while the other individual will remain with on hand firmly on each corner of the flag.The individual will start by making a 3/4 fold. It will look like the individual formed a triangle with this fold.

6. ) Making sure the fold is smooth, then taking the tip and folding it towards the other side. This will once again form another triangle. This individual will continue making this fold until only a small bit of the flag is left and will not allow for a complete fold.

7.) At this time, the remaining stars will fold and be tucked in between the material that formed the last triangle. Nothing will hang loose. The end will form a perfect triangle.

8.) At this time the flag should be placed in its own container to be stored unsoiled and respected.

I don’t need to tell you that Americans are overweight, malnutritioned, and unhealthy. Look at what is researched on Google, Yahoo, Alta Vista, etc. everyday. People are looking for diets and medical information. We are a high stressed society living on a high stressed land. We know our diet is not healthy. Obesity and diabetes is on the increase. Cancer is also associated with our diets. Even with all the information available we continue to consume fast food and processed foods at increasing rates.

Americans live stressed lives. Many homes have two working parents or just one parent who plays the part of both homemaker and wage earner. People are working two to three jobs just to keep up with the rent, pay for school, and live the American dream. Families have separated and are no longer extended families that can depend on each other. They don’t talk. We are known as dysfunctional. Talk about stress. Even our ground is stressed. We are advised that our land has been over-farmed. Soil depletion has caused our vegetables to come up lacking in nutrients. Even if we slow down enough to cook a meal at home it consists mostly of frozen meat, canned vegetables, and nutrient depleted “fresh” vegetables.

What is the solution? Believe it or not, entrepreneurs. Local greenhouses can supply the need for fresh herbs and vegetables. Herbs and vegetables have been hailed as natural healers for thousands of years. Today what do we do when we’re sick? Stop at the doctor, get a piece of paper, and go see the pharmacist. Put chemicals in and wonder why we don’t get well. “But, I buy fresh vegetables at the grocery store.” Many of those vegetables were picked green and then sprayed to keep them from rotting. They were taken to the store and allowed to “ripen” in the back room. Taste a fresh garden-ripe tomato. Then compare that to the store bought “fresh” tomato. There is no comparison. The nutrients aren’t there because the fruit was picked green. The fruit has to mature to gain its nutritional value. Without maturation many vitamins are lost.

We are looking for greenhouses to entrepreneurs, train them to turn a profit, and get healthy food into the mouths of Americans. We can do this through individuals, groups, and schools. Look at our schools. They are not getting the funding they need to keep up with the demands of society on our students’ education. Schools can feed themselves with a greenhouse and have food to sell to supply student activities and needs. Much can be said also about the effect of lack of nutrition on the minds of our students. Fatigue, overweight, headaches, and lack of concentration are evidences of nutritional lack. Diet can be linked to ADHD, depression, and anxiety. Getting nutrition to our children needs to become a vital importance.

They do tend to consume leaves and tree bark as well when they can’t find meat. This particular bear is one that loves honey and other sweets. They can become a nuisance if they know people have food in the area. Keeping trash cans and other areas of food secured is important.

Reproduction

The American Black Bears find each other for mating in the late spring or early summer. However, the females can delay the attachment of the embryo to the uterus until the fall. Then they will be born in February of the following year. Generally two cubs are born but as many as four can be found in a single litter. After about a year of the mothers care these cubs will make a life on their own.

Conservation

When it comes to bears, there are more American Black Bears than any other. Approximately 400,000 of them are believed to be in the wild today. Conserving the natural areas where they live should be more important than it is though.

Human interaction

Many people have come across an American Black Bear in the wild. They aren’t aggressive in nature so usually they will go their own way and leave people alone. The hunting of these types of bears is very common though due to their size. In some regions such hunting is even encouraged to keep the overall bear population under control.
