When people go boating it gives them hours and hours of enjoyment that is hard to be topped by anything else. Before you set off on the water there are some safety measures that need to first be taken to be certain that every one of your guests are boating safely.


It is your responsibility that all safety equipment is on your boat. The Coast Guard has some guidelines which need to be followed to be sure that your boating trip goes smoothly even if anything should happen. One of the main safety items that you need is life jackets. Everybody that is on board of your boat has to have a life jacket that is the proper size for them. Also prior to setting out you need to check to see the age requirements of children required to wear a life jacket all the time while on the boat.


Having a fire extinguisher on your boat is a necessity on a boat. The fire extinguisher that you have on your boat needs to be one that is a Type B or Type C. Having a fire extinguisher that is this type will put out any fires that have been started by gas, oil, electrical, or grease. You need to have a first aid kit on your boat this is for just in case emergencies. You might never need to use it but it is a good idea to have one. You might also feel it is a good idea to have some kind of distress signal. This is in case you are in any type of distress you can send up the signal and they will give alert to rescue boats.
