The Arizona Diamond is a professional American Baseball team established in 1998 at Phoenix, Arizona. They are members of the West Division of Major League Baseball’s National League. Phoenix grew to be 9th largest city in USA in 1990 due to relocation of population to warmer states especially from Midwest and Northeast. Also, there were relocation from the sunny state of California. Demand for a professional National League team from the region came up, as fans for baseball grew in strength. Jerry Calangelo took first step by setting up Arizona Baseball Inc. His experience as the majority owner of NBA team Phoenix Suns came in handy and in 1995 he held “name the team” contest. The first prize was a lifetime season ticket. The winning choice was Diamond back, named after a rattlesnake, most common in Arizona. This five feet long snake can inject a significant amount of venom, when it strikes. The team is nicknamed D-backs and Snakes. The team logo is a red and a black triangle above purple Diamondbacks script. The Colangelo group was awarded the franchise in 1995 for playing 1998 season along with Tampa Bay’s Devil Rays (for St Petersburg). The home grounds are the Chase Fields which were earlier known as Bank One Ballpark (nickname The B.O.B.) and has a new retractable roof.

The team played its first season in 1998 with the first game on March 31,1998 against Colorado Rookies before a packed crowd of 50,179. They lost the game by 2-9. The Arizona Diamondbacks won their first World Series Title in 2001, the youngest franchise to do so. Also in first five seasons they also won three divisional titles. The Arizona Diamondback have won the West Division four times in 1999, 2001, 2002 & 2007. The retired number is 42 Jack Robinson which was retired by MLB. In 2007, Bob Melvin, their manager, won the Manager of the year award. Jose Valverde RHP won the Fireman Award in 2007. Randy Johnson LHP won Cy Young four times in 1999, 2000, 2001 & 2002 and Brandon Webb RHP in 2006. In 2006, Craig Consell 2B won the LCS MVP. During the year 2001, the team won World Series; Randy Johnson LHP and Curt Schilling RHP won the World Series MVP. The other distinguish achievement include No Hitters on 5/18/2004 by Randy Johnson (Prefect) and Cycle Hitters by Luis Gonzalez (7/5/2000), Greg Collbrunn (9/18/2002) and Stephen Drew (9/1/2008) .

Arizona Diamondback’s best season was in 1999 with the tally at 100-62 and the worst season in 2004 with 51-111 tally. The ownership change hands to Ken Kendrick, Jason Ellis, Paul Schloss in 2004 due to the declining team performance. The manager of the team is Bob Melvin since the year 2005. They have had four manager in 11 seasons so far; Buck Showlater from1998-2000, Bob Brenley from 2001-2004, Al Pedrique in 2004 and Bob Melvin 2005-Present

The Mascot is D Baxter the Bobcat. The Sun Poll Pavilion can give nearly 35 guests an opportunity to see the Diamondback play while enjoying fountains, swimming pool or hot tub. The Team has a TV tie up with Fox Sport Net Arizona and MAS (Spanish), the radio with KTAR (620 AM) : KSUN (1400 AM)

After the 2004 season, the Diamond hired Wally Back to be manager but they sacked him within 10days due to legal troubles and improprieties. Bob Melvin became new manager and team spent heavily on free agents to rebuild the team. The Arizona Diamondback signed Royce Clayton SS, Troy Glaus 3B, Russ Otiz P and Craig Counsell 2B. They traded Cassey Fossum for Jose Cruz Jr, Randy Johnson for Javier Vazquez, Brad Halsey and Dioner Navarro. They then traded newly acquired Dioner Navarro for Shawn Green. This helped the Diamondback to improve the tally in 2005 by 26 games to 77-85.

For 2007 season Luis Gonzales, a Diamondback stalwart and fan favorite joined the rival Los Angles Dodger. Miguel Batista joined Marnier. Craig Counsel went back to his hometown team of Milwaukee Brewers. Still the season was relatively a success for Arizona Diamondbacks with 90-72 tally, thanks to a young team of Connor Jackson, Brandon Webb, Carlos Quentin, Chris Young, Chad Tracy, Mark Reynold and Stephen Drew. They beat Colorado Rockets to secure a playoff position and also won the NL West title and a berth in National League Championship series first time after 2001.

For 2008 the Arizona Diamondbacks traded Carlos Quentin for Chris Carter. They also acquired Dan Haren RHP for six players. Dan Haren signed a 4 year deal of $44.75 million. The veteran free agents, Tony Clark and Livan Hernandez did not re-sign. Orlando Hudson underwent a surgery after a collision with Brian Mc Cann of Atlanta Braves. Other major player with injuries was Eric Byrnes. Due to injuries, Diamondbacks traded Wilkin Castillo C and Micah Owing RHP for Adam Dunn. Further the acquired World Series MVP David Eckstein for second base to fill for Orlando Hudson. The season finished with tally at 82-80.

Experience the Power and Benefits of a Magnetic Energy Motor

Inventors will not stop looking for alternative sources of power. Right now, we have windmills solar panels that will help us reduce our cost on power. These alternatives in which we need to tap natural sources of power such as the wind and the sun. However, the good news does not stop there. People have developed power sources that are claimed to be perpetual. This is called magnetic energy motor. This is a device powered by magnets and these devices do not need gasoline, the sun, or wind to generate power. These perpetual motions are called perpetual because they can last up to 400 years and they can power themselves without much maintenance needed.

The magnetic energy motor does not need an external source of power. What it does is to tap the repulsing energies of the magnets and harness them as power. Invented by Troy Reed, there are several prototypes working and these samples are currently being honed to perfection and made available to the public. The magnetic energy motor does not consume power from electricity and gasoline. It does not need fuel at all. This is what makes it interesting because there is nothing you need to do to maintain power. All you need to do is to clean it up and take care of the joints and gears. And the bonus part is this: these motors can run appliances and generators up to 7,000 watts of power.

Just think about the endless possibilities of having these machines; you do not have to worry about power outages anymore. You do not have to worry about fuel running out. You do not have to rely on big corporations for expensive power or electricity. You will be independent of these corporate electricity companies and you will be able to do more business with these machines. A magnetic energy motor will help you become more productive and autonomous.

Now Pay Close Attention Here-

Are you seriously looking for a proven way to save money on your electricity bills? You will be surprised to know that how easy it is to save money on electricity bills at Home by opting a renewable source of energy like Magnetic Energy, that will not only save your money but you will help in cleaning the environment. 2008 Kansas City Chiefs Outlook

There’s no need to tell you, a Kansas City fan, that the Kansas City Chiefs are one of the most successful franchises in professional football. This once modest team, first founded as the Dallas Texans In 1960, would go on to dominate much of the 1960s in the American Football League. The team has also earned its place in history being the second AFL team to defeat an NFL Club and winning an AFL-NFL Super Bowel World Championship in 1969. However, any non-Kansas City fan will be quick to point out that the team hasn’t won a league championship in the last four decades. Nevertheless, the team has a strong fan base and continues to pull in massive support, setting records (a 149 game sell-out streak) and some impressive all around scores. (A record of 104-40 since 1990)

However, it is competition that makes the NFL. So how do the Kansas City Chiefs look in the upcoming season? 2008 and beyond will be the team’s 49th season and will attempt to redeem the team’s name after a humiliating 4-12 record from 2007. First off, there have been a lot of changes in management. Clark Hunt is the chairman of the Chiefs, inheriting the position after the death of team founder Lamar Hunt, and has made some drastic moves. Though head coach Herman Edwards is returning, as well as General Manager Carl Peterson, the Chiefs have hired a new offensive coordinator in Chan Gailey, who replaces Mike Solari after two lackluster seasons. Also cut from the team were management players of John Matsko, offensive line coach, receivers coach Charlie Joiner and running backs coach James Saxon. In fact, the only coaches who were retained were tight ends coach Jon Embree and assistant head coach Dick Curl. The Chiefs also hired Eric Price to serve as the new wide receiver’s coach.

How about new players? Since February, the team has acquired offensive tackle Anthony Alabi from the Miami Dolphins, as well as free agents like place kicker Nick Novak, safety Erick Harris, defensive tackle T.J. Jackson, cornerback Chad Johnson, offensive tackle Joe Lobdell and guard Rob Smith. As the 2008 year slowly progressed, the Chiefs made some more exciting signings including linebacker Demorrio Williams, wide receiver Devard Darling, wide receiver B.J. Sams, tight end John Paul Foschi center Wade Smith, cornerbacks Will Poole and Jason Horton and fullback Oliver Hoyte from the Dallas Cowboys.

The Chiefs have been busy this early season as they have already signed 23 undrafted free agents, and losing only a handful of players in Eddie Kennison, John Welbourn, Gilbert Harris, Khreem Smith, Ty Law, Kendrell Bell, Jason Dunn, James Reed, Chris Bober and Greg Wesley. The Chiefs failed to sign Jeff Faine and Josh Brown despite an aggressive campaign, leading Herman Edwards to accuse other teams of cheating to ensure a signing. (Very possible, considering both players signed on their first day of free agency)

Nevertheless, the Chiefs look very promising this year as their draft selections this year (including Glenn Dorsey, Branden Albert and Brandon Flowers) are being touted as the best of any NFL team this season. Owner Clark Hunt is predicting a playoff spot for his team this year. If this prediction turns true, it will be a major turnaround and a winning season long overdue for this popular team.

Atlanta Braves’ Chances for 2010 are Impossible to Predict

On paper, Atlanta’s 2009 season didn’t seem that bad. They had 6 players batting over .300, and a team batting average of .263. The team ERA was a respectable 3.57. Yet somehow, Atlanta managed to win just 86 games, losing 76, finishing third in their division and seven games back of the Philadelphia Phillies.

A closer look at some of the player stats, however, may shed some light on the problem. The bullpen struggled, posting such horrific numbers as Blaine Boyer’s 40.50 ERA, acquired in only 1.10 innings of work. It is very difficult to win a game when your pitcher walks 3 and gives up 6 runs during such a brief time. Vladimir Nunez also had problems with the 1.00 inning he threw, allowing 2 walks, 4 runs, and 2 home runs to net him a 36.00 ERA.

They got some good numbers from some of their starters, such as Jair Jurrjens, who had a 2.60 ERA and 215 innings of work, and Javier Vazquez, who turned in 219.1 innings and ended the season with a 2.87 ERA. Nevertheless, Vazquez was traded to the Yankees for outfielder Melky Cabrera in a complex 5-player deal. In addition, the Braves have made a number of moves intended to help the team break Philadelphia’s 3-year run. Gone are pitchers Mike Gonzalez, Rafael Soriano, and Boone Logan. Garret Anderson, Ryan Church, Kelly Johnson, Adam LaRoche, and Greg Norton have all been traded.

The Braves have acquired pitchers Billy Wagner, Takashi Saito, Juan Abreu, Jesse Chavez, Scott Proctor, Michael Dunn, and Arodys Vizcaino. Right fielders Brent Clevlen and Mitch Jones, third baseman Joe Thurston, catcher Orlando Mercado, and veteran first baseman Troy Glaus round out the off season moves to date.

Even with all of the changes, it is questionable how much the moves actually improved the team. The Braves were a young team with one of the best-potentially-starting rotations in the league. Many of the trades seem to have been an even swap, with no great advantage gained.

The starting rotation will likely be Kenshin Kawakami, Tim Hudson, Tommy Hanson, Derek Lowe, with, naturally, Jair Jurrjens in the number one slot. Takashi Saito will probably take over as closer, with Billy Wagner, Eric O’Flaherty, and Peter Moylan being the primary bullpen personnel.

Despite their stats, Atlanta just could not seem to find a way to win. Nor do injuries play much of a part in the record; with the exception of Chipper Jones, who was out several times for various injuries, and Jordan Schafer, who went out in September for surgery on his right wrist, most of the team stayed pretty healthy throughout 2009. It remains to be seen just how well they can respond to the challenge of ending Philadelphia’s winning streak.

This is probably going to manager Bobby Cox’s last year before retirement, so there may be some additional impetus for the players’ to see that he leaves with a division championship. He had the personnel in 2009, most of whom are still with the team despite some risky trades by the front office. How things will play out, however, remains anyone’s guess.
