There is no question that this makes excellent rice. The instructions for making porridge (grits, oatmeal, etc.) make it a little hard to come out as good as the rice. The only real gripe I have about this is the inner pot. It scratched after only about 3 uses. I only use the plastic paddle it comes with, so I am a bit perplexed as to how this happened. I went to the Zojirushi website to order a replacement and was astonished to see that this inner pot costs near to replace!
