JOB DESCRIPTION:
 
  • Manages all employee recognition, appreciation, health/fitness and community outreach events and programs for 4,000 + Mirage employees.
  • Oversees the production of all communications from inception of ideas to completion of projects.  
  • Oversees the daily supervision of Employee Services consistent with the strategic plan and vision for the department, the division and The Mirage.  Directs smooth, efficient, cost effective operation, including labor management, supervision of all aspects of services, scheduling and inventory control. 
  • Reacts to employee complaints or concerns and takes appropriate action.  Supports the Employee Services Clerk with any tasks associated with the Employee Services Center.
  • Provides input into the research, development, evaluation and implementation of new services, technology and processes to ensure The Mirage’s competitive advantage, and in anticipation of changing needs of employees. 
  • Creates a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, mutual respect and employee satisfaction.
  • Provides guidance to employees in areas outside the scope of their knowledge, i.e. momentum access and instructions, team sponsorships, payroll forms and questions, various health and benefits plans and voluntary/supplemental insurance, etc.
  • Provides recommendations to management on daily operational issues
  • Performs other job duties and/or special projects as requested by division management.
  • Successfully implements up to 50 annual events and ongoing programs.
  • Effectively manages the annual Employee Services budget of $500,000.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
 
Required:

  • At least 3 years experience in employee services, special events, or project management. 
  • At least 3 years experience in the development and execution of event proposals, work plan, and budgets.
  • Must have previous experience with guest service, particularly with guests who may be emotional or displeased with a situation.
  • Must have working knowledge of HR systems.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills to function effectively with attention to detail while meeting established deadlines.
  • Must have the ability to identify and resolve problems of management and employees, which may be sensitive in nature.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and execute event plans and budgets, on time and within budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead, manage, and motivate staff.
  • Ability to effectively assess and prioritize workload.  Effective delegation and organization skills.  
  • Ability to research, create and effectively market new employee programs.
  • Ability to understand and relate to all levels of diverse employee population.
  • Ability to anticipate and creatively manage work place change.
  • Strong written, verbal, and listening communication skills. 
  • Able to influence others in both positive and negative circumstances and produce the best outcome for the department and company.
  • Strong problem solving/contingency planning skills.  Ability to advise and make appropriate recommendations regarding solutions.
  • Well-rounded management perspective, sound judgment, and common sense. 
  • Ability to critically analyze and document work results and make effective recommendations for future events and programs.
  • Must possess the ability to make decisions and work independently.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively deal with management and employees both in person and over the phone.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Must be able to operate office equipment.
  • Excellent customer services skills.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team.
  • Must have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have good working knowledge of PC software and Mac software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.).
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Hotel Administration/Special Events Management/Communications/Journalism and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Working knowledge of Infinium and Filenet.
  • Must have previous experience working in a similar resort setting.
  • Bi-lingual.
